Slumber Pawty with the Dogs

If you know me in the slightest, you know I'm all about dogs, senior dogs especially. There’s no doubt that these innocent creatures feel pain and fear. To know that hurts me to my core. I also know that they feel love and gratitude, and there’s no better feeling on Earth for me than to know I’ve helped one of these dogs live their best life, no matter how much time that is. Knowing that they’ve felt safe and loved in their last hours, days, and months is a satisfaction beyond measure. It’s always tough to take them in knowing they’ll be leaving you soon, but the joy they give while you have them always outweighs the sorrow of when they leave you. 

I just finished a fund raiser last weekend for which I dressed 80s style in a neon green tutu, and terribly slippery and tight neon pink legging while attempting to bowl. This time, I’ll be sleeping on the floor with dogs at our rescue’s adoption and wellness center. I’m hoping to raise the most funds and win the “suite”: a larger and more private sleeping area. I’ll still be on the floor, but at least no one will be snoring directly in my face. My goal is $5,000. I know it’s short notice, but if I don’t ask, I’ll never get there. 

If we reach our 20K overall goal, I’ve committed to dying my hair blue. I know, when it’s not gray, it already blue. But this time, I’ll be dying it Lionel’s Legacy blue. Like light teal blue. Oy Vey. Is there nothing I won’t do to raise money for senior dogs? It appears not.
