It's a big day for me—after 41 years at Iowa State, I’m officially retiring today! 🎉
Instead of a retirement party, I’m choosing to celebrate in a way that means so much to me—by supporting the animals at Boone Area Humane Society. 💙
On April 18th, I’ll be participating in the Shelter Slumber Pawty, where I’ll spend 24 hours at the shelter hanging out (and sleeping!) with the amazing dogs and cats of BAHS—all to help raise funds for their care.

Welcome to my Shelter Slumber Pawty fundraising page!
This is my third year participating in the Pawty, and I’m so excited to be back—this time with a big goal in mind. I’m aiming to raise $2,000 to support the animals at Boone Area Humane Society. It’s an ambitious goal, but I know we can reach it together!
This year, I’ll be spending the night with a very special duo: siblings Sissy and Sam. Sissy is currently serving as our Meow Mayor, and both she and Sam have come such a long way since arriving at the shelter. If they don’t find their forever home before April 18th, they’ll be my sleepover buddies—and I’m definitely hoping for plenty of cuddles!
Sissy and Sam are the perfect example of why BAHS exists. They were found outside as older kittens, and thanks to a kind person who took the time to gain their trust, they were given a second chance. Wanting more for them than life outdoors, she brought them to BAHS so they could find a safe, loving indoor home.
