WHS cares for more than 5,000 animals every year; from domestic animals like cats and dogs to farm animals like horses and goats to wildlife like squirrels and gulls, WHS cares for them all.
I've been lucky enough to work at WHS since 2021 so I know the hard work that goes into all the services and I know how vital this work is. We often get people and animals from around the state of Washington and even from Idaho, Oregon, and British Columbia needing help.
Rooster at the beachAnd I'm also doing this in honor of my own rescue dog, Rooster. We didn't adopt him from WHS but he had bounced around from foster home to foster home before he joined my family. Having places like WHS provide resources for all animals means dogs like Rooster can find their forever homes. And as an open-admission shelter, WHS takes in and cares for all animals, even those with high needs like Rooster.
