New update
Found this video filmed in my office from a couple years ago. A piglet, covered in mange arrived at Whatcom Humane Society needing care and a second chance. As an open-admission shelter, Whatcom Humane turns no animal away. This little guy needed some serious tlc and then a chance at a life where he would be treated as a valued companion, not a food source. It was hard not to fall in love with him . . . and share some pasta everyday at lunch! He ended up going to live at Pigs Peace Sanctuary, an amazing rescue group on Camano Island, dedicated to all things pigs. It was an honor to place a small part in his journey and help him find a safe place to call home. It's why we do what we do . . . and why your support of our Shelter Slumber Pawty is critical to our daily operations!
It's time for a full 24 hours of "pawtying" at WHS to raise funds for the animals! For one full day (and night!), I'll will be eating, sleeping, and pawtying at the Whatcom Humane Society shelter to spotlight what it really takes to care for animals around the clock—from meals to meet-and-greets to enrichment and so much more. I'll be hanging out at the domestic animal shelter, our wildlife rehabilitation center and farm facility - spending time with the animals and the amazing staff and volunteer teams at Whatcom Humane. I'll be sleeping in my office (not actually that unusual . . . HA! - and hosting a pancake breakfast for two and four legged participants on April 19th). Check out my social media for all the updates, and please help me reach my fundraising goal to assist the more than 5,000 animals WHS cares for each year. As an open-admission shelter, WHS is there for ALL animals, big and small, horses to hamsters and everything in between.
