Welcome to my Shelter Slumber Pawty page! I'm so excited to share with you that starting at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18th, I'll be spending 24 hours side-by-side with a shelter animal at the New Hampshire SPCA's Shelter Slumber Pawty. This means literally hanging out in their kennel, caring for them, and even sleeping on the kennel floor! All to raise funds and awareness of the importance of high quality care in the shelter.
I'm committed to help every animal find a safe and loving home and will be fundraising throughout the day and night to raise awareness for the lifesaving work of the NHSPCA.
Supporting this fundraiser was very important to me since throughout my life, have grown up with strictly only rescue/ adopted pets, and it had made me the person I am today. Everyone needs a loving companion by their side, Including a shelter pet!
My goal is to raise $2,000+ to support the mission of the NHSPCA, and I need your help. I hope you are in a position to consider a generous gift knowing that every dollar raised will make a difference for homeless, neglected, and abused animals. Together we will help provide safe shelter, attentive care, critical medical services, and the second chance that each animal so greatly deserves.
Thank you so much for the donations , and impact you are making to these wonderful pets! Every pet deserves a second chance !
My dog Wallie who passed away around 4 years ago holds a special place in my heart as to why I am choosing to help support this fundraiser. I found him wandering in the street, and knew the dog distribution system had finally led to me! After 3 hours of chasing him through the woods to get him, I finally caught him, and we brought him right to the vet. He was extremely malnourished, had at least 60 ticks , the longest nails and the cloudiest crusted shut eyes. He went into eye surgery a few days later, got a nail trim, and bath and was officially my forever boy. Wallie was a shar pei and they are a dog breed that is known for being dominant , protective, independent , and stubborn. Wallie was NONE OF THAT. He immediately fit in to my house full of other dogs, cats, fish, hamsters, and a snake. He has the best personality ever, was playful and would let you do anything to him. All he wanted to do was follow me every single place I went. My mom would wake him up in the morning to go outside , and eat breakfast and Wallie wouldn’t get out of bed and start his day until I did, even if it meant holding his pee for up to 14 hours! I had never felt such immense love in my life ever, and I took advantage of it. My mom fed him, took him out, and even bathed him most of the time, but none of it mattered to him. On thanksgiving day 2022, I went downstairs to feed him breakfast since he was sleeping in a cage recovering from a surgery he got, and there was no movement. We rushed him to the vet , but it was too late. Wallie tested positive for heart worm and had other issues we did not know about since we don’t even know how long he was out there all alone. Finding Wallie on the street was the best thing to ever happen to me, but also too short lived. I only had this angel in my life for 2 short years because Wallie was not given a chance at a loving home for majority of his life, and I never go to say goodbye or thank him for all the unconditional love he taught me. For me, the moral of the story is that pets know who saved them, and if you give a lost rescue or shelter animal a chance it can change not only their life, but also yours. I hope everyone donating realizes that their donations can help these pets and future families have a long, healthy life all together.
