Hey Good Dogs

For over two years, I’ve had the privilege of volunteering with Laws Animal Welfare Society (LAWS), and it has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. Getting a behind-the-scenes look at this incredible shelter has shown me what it truly means to care—not just for animals, but for their futures.

LAWS goes far beyond basic sheltering. Every animal is met with patience, compassion, and genuine love. They take the time to understand each animal’s unique needs, helping them heal, grow, and become the best version of themselves so they can find the safe, loving homes they deserve.

Located in Luling, Texas—a small town of just 5,000 people—the need is great. The stray animal population is a real challenge, but LAWS stands as a vital lifeline for both the animals and the community. Despite having only 12 kennels, this small but mighty shelter has built an extraordinary network of support, including strong local ties and out-of-state rescue partnerships, all working toward one goal: giving these animals a second chance at life.
