Sheila's Shelter Slumber Pawty fundraiser!

Welcome to my Shelter Slumber Pawty page—this one is close to my heart.

On Saturday, April 18 at 1:00 p.m., I’ll be stepping into a kennel at the New Hampshire SPCA and staying there for 24 hours… alongside a shelter dog. I’ll be caring for them, comforting them, and yes, sleeping on the kennel floor. It’s not about the experience for me, it’s about shining a light on theirs.

Because this is what life looks like for so many animals as they wait. They wait for safety. For comfort. For someone to see them, choose them, and love them.

And right now, there are more of them than ever before. More dogs. More cats. More horses and small animals each one needing care, space, medical attention, and love. Our shelter is stretched, and the need is real. They are depending on us.

I’ve spent 19 years working at this incredible organization, and the animals I’ve met have never left me. From Valentine, the lone horse on the property, to the 19 Italian Greyhounds rescued from a sweltering attic, to Shadow, who waited far too long before finally finding his home, each one has a story etched into my heart.

And then there are my own, Sable, Taffy, Brindle, Whiskey, Bailey, Murphy, Cosmo, each deeply loved and never forgotten. Today, Cocoapuff and Teddy (both proud NHSPCA alumni) fill my days with laughter and remind me exactly why this work matters.

Animals have a way of reaching into us, quietly, powerfully, unconditionally. They give us everything. They deserve the same in return.

My goal is to raise $10,000 to support the lifesaving work of the NHSPCA. Every dollar helps provide safe shelter, medical care, and the second chances these animals so desperately deserve.
