L’Orange is a beautiful, sweet boy who came to us in December. He was surrendered with an active urethral obstruction. This meant that his bladder was at imminent risk of rupture; he was as close to death as a cat can be. Working that day at the shelter over my winter break, I rushed him to VEG, and looked on as the team immediately jumped to treat him. Thankfully, they were successful in unblocking him, and he was returned to the shelter for observation.

L’Orange had recovered phenomenally well. But, as is common with cats who experience an obstruction once, he began showing signs again that he was struggling in mid-March. Today, he experienced a partial urethral obstruction, and is spending the night at MedVet Chicago as he awaits a surgery tomorrow to shorten his urethra, a procedure that will eliminate his risk for suffering obstructions in the future, giving him a chance at the life he deserves. I’m fundraising to help L’Orange get this live-saving care that our shelter is very thankful to be able to provide for our animals.
