North Country Pet Adoption Services takes in animals that other places can’t - the harder cases, the ones that need time, patience and a whole lot of love. And they do it because people show up and make it possible.
Hubie the Wonderment came from here. We spent an amazing year together before he passed. The amazing rescue gave us both a chance for happiness.
Hubert wasn’t just a dog. He was one of those souls that leaves a mark on you. The kind you don’t really recover from, you just learn to carry. He reminded me exactly why rescues like NCPAS matter so much - because dogs like him deserve a chance, a soft place to land, and someone who sees them.
That’s why I’m participating in the Slumber Pawty again this year.
Last year I had the pleasure of spending the night with Lemon and I can’t wait to see who I meet as this year’s event unfolds.
It’s a unique overnight fund raiser where participants either sleep in kennels or host a “home pawty”, raising money to support rescue animals who don’t have anywhere else to go. It might sound a little silly - pajamas, sleeping bags, a night on a kennel floor - but the mission behind it is anything but silly.
Donations help cover:
- Emergency veterinary care
- Spay/neuter and vaccinations
- Food, supplies and enrichment
- Transport form overcrowded shelters
- Heartworm treatment and medical care
- Support for foster homes that give these animals a safe place to heal
Every dollar raised helps give animals a second chance. The scared ones. The sick ones. The seniors. The ones who get overlooked.
The ones like Hubert and Lemon.
They got their chance because of a rescue like this and because of people who cared.
So this night, whether it’s on a kennel floor or at home in pajamas, is for them.
For the dogs still waiting.
For the ones who haven’t been seen yet.
If you’re able to donate, thank you, truly. You’re helping turn something small into something life-changing.
Because every animal deserves what Hubert had - a chance to be loved and a life that truly mattered.
