Just 10 days after celebrating her 3rd anniversary with us, Pride passed away peacefully while we were sleeping and crossed the rainbow bridge. Pride came to Pound Pets with Titus and three puppies. They were used as breeder dogs their whole lives. They were kept in a box in the backyard. The breeder passed in his backyard and when emergency services came down, they found the dogs. They also found a couple puppies that had passed. The three puppies were adopted or went to other rescues. Pound pets ended up keeping Titus and Pride with their organization. We decided to foster Pride when Titus went to his foster. She really didn't like him all that much! Pride was our medical foster because she had cancer. She fit in very well with our household. She just became one of the girls. She was a goofy girl. She would guard the bacon on the stove in the mornings. It was her favorite. Even with her cancer, her appetite would rival that of Joey Chestnuts on Independence Day, and she had not been showing any signs of slowing down. She followed us from room to room, headbutting us when it was feeding time,  looking/barking in the opposite direction of whatever noise she heard, among so many other things. Thanks to Pound Pets Inc. Rescue for allowing us to foster her during her final days that turned into 3 years, and letting her give us countless smiles and laughs. This is why rescue is so important. It gives dogs like our Pride, second chances to live out whatever life they have left in comfort and love. RIP sweet Pride, you will definitely be missed. Until we meet again sweet girl. 😭
