It's that time again! In a few weeks, I'll be spending 24 hours at Open Door, sleeping alongside the shelter animals. I'm hoping to raise $1,508 for dogs and cats in need and I need your help to make it happen!
Why $1,508? Because my own Open Door adoptee, Marvin, spent 1508 nights in the shelter before coming home with me. His age and his numerous health and behavioral challenges made the right home difficult to find, but Open Door didn't give up on him. They kept him safe all that time, and it's because of that dedication that I now have my best friend.
If little Marvin could spend 1,508 nights in the shelter, I can spend one. I'm raising money to help make sure that every dog and cat gets the same opportunities Marvin got: to finally be part of a family.
I'm also raising money in memory of my dogs, Einstein and Louise, whom I had the privilege of loving and caring for during the final year and a half of their lives. I'm raising money in memory of my shy senior cats, Lewis and Platypus, whom I loved with all my heart. And I'm raising money for all the seniors who find themselves in need of a safe and comfortable place to spend their last months or years.
