I’ve been volunteering with the Evanston Animal Shelter since 2012 (with just a small pause during COVID), and I’ve seen firsthand what makes this place so special. This isn’t just a shelter, it’s a sanctuary. A place that says “yes” to animals in need, even when they’re not the typical dogs and cats, even when resources and space are limited, and even when it’s hard.


They don’t turn away the unusual, the overlooked, or the ones who need extra care. And they don’t just care for animals, they care for the people, too.
Through programs like their pet food pantry, medical support, foster care, and financial assistance for veterinary needs, they help keep families and their beloved pets together. In a world where many shelters simply can’t offer that kind of support, this one chooses compassion again and again ❤️ 


That’s why I continue to support them, and why I’m asking you to join me.


I know times feel heavy right now, and every dollar matters. But if you’re able to skip just one small indulgence, a daily coffee, a quick treat, and redirect that toward this shelter, you’re doing something extraordinary.
