Every night, hundreds of animals at Open Door Animal Sanctuary fall asleep knowing they are safe, warm, and cared for. For many of them, that wasn’t always the case.

Since 1975, Open Door has been a place of second chances, rescuing stray, abused, neglected, and unwanted cats and dogs from across the greater St. Louis community. Today, nearly 400 animals rely on the sanctuary every single day for shelter, food, medical care, enrichment, and most importantly, love. Dogs enjoy heated and air-conditioned indoor/outdoor kennels, daily walks, and time in large play yards, while cats roam freely in spacious catteries with climbing structures, window perches, and plenty of human attention.

This year, we’re participating in the Shelter Slumber Pawty to help raise funds that keep this life-saving work going. As volunteers since 2021, we’ve seen firsthand how much this sanctuary means to the animals who arrive scared and uncertain and how they transform once they feel safe.

Over the years, we’ve volunteered at the shelter, helped with events, worked at the cat adoption center, and even opened our home to foster many kittens who needed a temporary place to grow and thrive. Each experience has shown us how powerful compassion and community can be.

Our goal is to raise $500 to support the animals of Open Door. Every donation, big or small, helps provide food, medical care, safe housing, and enrichment for animals waiting for their forever homes. 🐾
