Last fall, we brought home McGee, a senior stray from the Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS), not knowing how long he had been on his own, only that we wanted to give him a safe place to spend what we thought might be his final months.
But McGee had other plans. He is still going strong, and in that time, he has filled our lives with a kind of love, comfort, and healing we never expected.
McGee chose to trust us, to let us call him family, and for that we are forever grateful.
There are so many animals just like him, forgotten, abandoned, and without a voice, still waiting for someone to see them and choose them. I will be spending 24 hours in a kennel, from April 18th - April 19th, 2025 to stand with them and to be their voice.
