Foothills Humane Society Inc

Foothills Humane Society is located in Polk County, NC in the foothills of the mountains. Our organization holds a county contract while simultaneously operating as a private humane society.  We intake and care for over 1,300 dogs and cats annually!  FHS maintains a 94% or higher live release rate which means that 94% of the animals that enter our doors find their way out into loving homes.  Here at FHS we strive to provide the highest levels of care possible.  Our cats have cozy beds, treats, and volunteer/staff enrichment provided.  Our dogs receive a minimum of two walks per day on our trails, a romp in the play yard, and training sessions.  We believe in improving the lives of the animals in our care, not just saving them.  We operate with a full staff and our wonderful volunteers.  Our annual operating budget is over $1,000,000.00 and our county funding accounts for less than a third of our expenses.
