For one night, shelters across the country stay awake together—and this year, for the very first time, the Humane Society of Sheboygan County is proud to be one of them.
We’re joining the national Shelter Slumber Pawty because nighttime in a shelter tells a story most people never see. When the doors close and the world quiets down, our animals are still here. Some curl up and sleep peacefully, finally safe. Others pace, listen, and wonder what comes next. One night may seem small, but it represents the many nights our animals spend waiting—for healing, for hope, and for a home.
This is our first year participating, and we’re doing it because the need is real. Every year, we care for thousands of animals in our community—providing food, medical care, safe shelter, and compassionate support until they find their next chapter. Events like the Shelter Slumber Pawty help make that possible.
By spending the night in the shelter, we’re choosing to step into their world—to experience, even briefly, what it means to wait. It’s a simple act, but a powerful one. It’s about showing up when it’s quiet, when it’s hard, and when it matters most.
Your support during this event helps provide:
• Warm beds and full bowls
• Medical care and second chances
• Enrichment, comfort, and compassion
• Resources to help the dedicated staff and volunteers who show up every single day to care for our animals
At HSSC, our mission goes beyond sheltering. We work to keep pets with the families who love them through programs like our Companion Animal Assistance Program (CAAP), and we provide accessible services like low-cost vaccines and spay/neuter care to support our community.
For the animals who need a place to land, we are their safety net.
For those who can stay with their families, we help keep them there.
The animals we serve cannot ask for help—they rely on us. And we rely on you.
💙 Please give today, and join us by watching the Shelter Slumber Pawty live on Facebook, April 18–19, 2026.
