Our rescue opened in January of 2014. Before that. We networked the animals at our local animal control to rescue's far and wide. When we opened the rescue, we were completely fosterbased. In 2019 we were donated a building in Granite City. This was a wide open building that we turned into a rescue . We started framing out rooms, and then covid hit. This cut down quite a bit on any volunteers. In late 2021, we were up and running again, making some progress with our rooms, and updating the electric. Being a small rescue, we just kind of did things a little at a time. Volunteers came in to help us set up dog kennels in the back part of the building and the cat rooms in the front part of the building. Little by little we began making a safe and secure place for our animals. Last Summer, we used the funds we received from the slumber pawty, as well as some additional funds, and finally fenced in our lot behind the building. This gave the dogs a place to run and play off leash. It makes us smile everyday when we see how happy they are to have this space. In the 15 years that we have been doing this, we have saved over 3,000 animals. We took the Granite City Animal Control from being a high kill shelter to a no-kill shelter for 12 years. An accomplishment that we are very proud of. We are raising funds this year to keep our animals and our volunteers safe and comfortable. This year we need to replace the guttering on our building and the fascia. We also need to put in some insulation because it gets a little cold, and a little hot. We count on the generosity of others to do this. No one at pound pets is paid. We are strictly volunteer and every dime goes towards the animals. Please consider supporting Pound Pets this year and helping us meet our goal of $20,000. As always, we thank you for your generosity and support.

We are a 501c3 corporation ran by a Board of Directors.
