Heartland’s foster families provide loving, safe environments where animals can heal, decompress, and learn what it means to live in a home. Fosters play a critical role in our lifesaving work by opening up space in the shelter and keeping animals happier, healthier, and more adoptable.
In 2025, 274 foster homes provided 22,373 days of care, including 369 dogs and 503 cats, making an extraordinary impact on our animals and helping Heartland save more lives than ever.
