Every night, animals at Shawano County Humane Society fall asleep in kennels and cages—unsure of what tomorrow holds, unaware of why they’re here, and relying entirely on the kindness of strangers for safety, comfort, and care. As an open-admission shelter, we accept stray animals from our community and provide care for every animal who comes through our doors, including those who are sick, injured, frightened, or have nowhere else to go.

On Saturday, April 18, 2026, Shawano County Humane Society will take part in the 24-Hour Shelter Slumber Pawty, a nationwide event raising critical funds and awareness for shelter animals. Participants will spend 24 hours inside the shelter—including overnight—sharing space with the animals who live this reality every day.

This experience is real. It can be emotional. And it is incredibly impactful.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and sponsors, events like this help ensure our animals receive medical care, comfort, and a second chance. Your support makes the difference—for one night, and for every day that follows.
