Feral and Furry : 24-hour Pawty

Welcome to my version of a Slumber Pawty 🐾✨

Tonight looks a little different… I’ll be spending the next 24 hours sleeping in a kennel — and no, I haven’t lost a bet 😅

As part of my job, I evaluate play yard groups to make sure every dog is safe, comfortable, and set up for success when socializing. This allows us to better understand their personalities—how they play, how they engage with people, and what kind of home would suit them best. For the dogs, it’s a chance to decompress, explore, and enjoy mental and physical stimulation, which is essential for their overall well-being.

I’ve been in evaluating dogs in the play yard for the last 8 years, and I absolutely love it. Not just for SCCAC, but for many facilities in the area. 

These play yard sessions help us advocate for each dog more effectively, ensuring they’re matched with the right adopters while giving them a much-needed break filled with fun, attention, and enrichment.

To truly see things from their perspective, im immersing myself fully - kennel life and all. Because for many of our dogs, this is their everyday reality.

This Slumber Pawty isn’t just about raising awareness — it’s about advocating for better enrichment, better group placements, and ultimately helping each dog find the right environment… whether that’s in play groups or in a forever home.
