Jami's Pawty!

I spent my childhood trying to save every animal I came across, sometimes even when they didn't need it. When I came onboard at the SPCA-BC, my attitude toward the animals in our care was no different. We would save them all. I walked into my position as transport coordinator with an idealized view of what it would be like to work in animal welfare. Surely I would spend every day playing with puppies and adopting them out with ease, right? RIGHT?!

The reality is different. The reality is that some animals' injuries can't be healed. Some people shouldn't own animals. Some supplies are just too expensive, no matter how drastically they would change our operations for the better. 

The reality is that some dogs sit and wait for months or a year or more, waiting for their chance at forever.

Three years later, and I've seen countless instances of hurt, neglect, abandonment, and more. 

I've also seen countless homecomings, recoveries, and victories. 

I'm less idealistic, but no less passionate that, while we might not save every single animal that walks through our door, the ones that do will know love and kindness while they're with us. And there isn't a day that the incredible team at the SPCA-BC won't fight for them.
