Timeline:
Evaluating Boika as a slumber-buddy. He licked my face, I'm in...
Documented his pre-grooming treatment.
Decorated kennel (we were isolated from other dogs in our own 5-kennel room).
Lots of walks.
Caffeine rush to push through the afternoon.
Bathing.
More walks.
Pawtying and laundry until 2:30 am.
Restless sleep for a couple hours.
Shocking awakening at 5:30 am by howling stray dog and if that didn't get me up, then the bright fluorescent lights at 6 am really gives you no choice but to get going.
Another walk, finished laundry, repaired a few dog beds before going home for a shower and a nap.
Next day, combing and walks continue. In a few days playgroup resumes after a respite from neutering a week ago.

Joe and Boika
On April 18-19 I along with other volunteers and staff will be spending a full 24 hours āpawtyingā at the Whatcom Humane Society to raise funds for animals in need.
Throughout the day and night, Iāll be tending to dogs, tackling essential shelter chores, and maybe catching a little sleep in a kennel when providing TLC ā all to show what it truly takes to care for the animals.
Rehabilitating dogs with physical, behavioral, and/or emotional needs is my passion, and a few of the dogs Iāve recently worked with are featured in the photo collage above with a couple sets of before and after photos.
Please consider making a donation today to support my efforts and help the Whatcom Humane Society continue caring for more than 5,000 animals each year.
Thank you!
