For the past three years, I’ve been on the front lines of animal welfare, volunteering at a county shelter and witnessing something I’ll never unsee—how many incredible dogs get lost in the system.

These aren’t “broken” dogs.

They’re overlooked dogs.

Dogs waiting… and waiting… for the one person who will finally see them.

Some wait weeks. Some wait months. Some wait their entire lives.

And the longer they wait, the harder it becomes.

The shelter environment takes a toll. Dogs who once wagged their tails start to shut down. Anxiety builds. Hope fades. Without the resources for proper intervention, enrichment, and outreach, that downhill slide happens fast—and too often, it’s irreversible.

That’s why I do what I do.

In the last three years, I’ve opened my home to fosters—dogs who just needed a chance to breathe outside of a kennel. Dogs who needed someone to advocate for them, to show the world who they really are. Right now, I have a foster who has been with me since November. As a single-animal home, she needs a very specific adopter—her person. And while she waits, more dogs just like her are still sitting in kennels, hoping someone will step up.

Fostering saves lives.

Advocacy saves lives.

Showing up saves lives.

This fundraiser is different. I’ll be spending the night sleeping in a kennel alongside a shelter dog—to give a small glimpse into what their reality looks like every single day.

This “Slumber Pawty” is more than an event.

It’s a statement.

It’s a call to action.

I’m doing this in honor of Bruce—the boy I couldn’t save.

And for every dog who came before him… and every one still waiting in the shelters.

They deserve more than time running out.

They deserve a chance.

If you’ve ever thought about helping—this is it. Be the reason one of them finally gets out.
