One Act of Kindness Can Save a Life Tonight

I have been doing this work since 1993.

What started as helping one dog… turned into a lifelong mission I never walked away from. And if I’m being honest it is no longer just a passion. It’s an obligation. Because once you’ve seen what these animals go through, you don’t get to “unsee” it.

Right now, we are overwhelmed.

Our Pennsylvania kennels are full. Our Texas ranch where we take in large breed dogs, specifically Akita's and Akita mixes (my breed of choice) that have nowhere else to go is stretched beyond capacity. Every day, more dogs are being surrendered. And it’s not slowing down. In fact, it is getting worse especially for large breeds, the ones people are quickest to give up on and the hardest to place.

These dogs aren’t broken.

They’re confused. They’re scared. They’re waiting.

Waiting in kennels. Waiting for a voice they recognize. Waiting for a second chance that may never come unless someone steps in.

This fundraiser isn’t just about raising money it is about showing you the reality of their lives.

The concrete floors they sleep on.
The constant noise.
The loneliness.

Not just in the municipal shelters we pull from but even when they arrive to us. Because while we give them safety and love and food, we can’t give them what they truly need without help:

A home.
A person.
A chance to belong.

Fosters and adopters are not “helpful” they are everything. Without them, the system stops. Without them, we can’t say yes to the next dog that needs saving.

And that’s the part that keeps me up at night.

Because for every dog we save, there’s another one we might have to turn away.

After more than 30 years, I’m still here. Still fighting. Still refusing to accept that this is just “how it is.”

But I can’t do this alone.
